Saragnat - Avalanche 2014

Christian Barthomeuf made the first ice cider in the winter of 1990 and Clos Saragnat was formed in Quebec by Christian Barthomeuf and Louise Dupuis in 2003. Avalanche is produced using the Cryoextraction method (see Ice Cider page), and it takes at least 50 average sized apples to yield a litre of cider, thus translating into about 10 per 200ml bottle. This technique certainly turns the making of Ice Cider into a labour of love, noticeable in the taste itself; revealing a more refined and complex pallet.
